URL rewriting / permalink errors

Couldn't find any solutions in the old forums, so I'm starting one fresh on the new forums.

When I try to link to a specific post, http://www.object01.com/2008/06/10/TheMysteriesOfIEnumerable.aspx, a server error is produced:

Server Error in '/' Application.

The resource cannot be found.

Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.  Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

Requested URL: /2008/06/10/TheMysteriesOfIEnumerable.aspx

Old threads lead me to believe this is a hosting provider issue related to URL rewriting, but CrystalTech support requires lots of spoonfeeding.  How can I direct their investigation of the problem?

(BTW, getting dasBlog setup on CrystalTech has been a painful experience.  $3/mo is great for hosting, but their support staff has given me the runaround a few times.)

You have more than a URL rewrite issue, you may not have noticed, but none of your image links are working and neither is the alternate themes.

You have some kind of setup configuration issue. Check your settings or configuration like the <Root>http://localhost/DasBlog/</Root> issue, with your "site.config" file in the SiteConfig directory.

Fixed the images and fixed the themes.  But regarding the URL rewriting, the problem seems to stem from CrystalTech's not having a necessary wildcard mapping configured in IIS.  (A checkbox exists in IIS's URL mapping dialogs called "Check that file exists" or something similar.)  After debugging the source it dawned on me that the TitleMapper module is never even given the opportunity to run.

I've terminated my service with CrystalTech; they say that this configuration isn't available on anything short of a dedicated server plan, which would increase my monthly price by 26X.

I recommend avoiding CrystalTech's shared server plans as a dasBlog solution.

When I had this problem the httpModules weren't registered in the <system.web> element of the web.config but only in the <system.webServer> element, but this is only a problem in IIS7.
