Can I use DasBlog for a private blog, i.e. users can see the posts only after logging in?

You could use IIS's authentication (HTTP Basic authentication or NTLM on the local network) to make this work. As far as I know there is no "make this blog private" setting in DasBlog.

I added it as a feature request for a future version.

Thanks for the answers.
I found a way to make dasBlog "private" (not a perfect solution).
DasBlog already uses Forms authentication mode. I added login.aspx as loginUrl in
web.config and added
<authorization><deny users="?"/></authorization>
Now a user has to log in before using the blog, either as administartor or contributor.

The drawback with this approach: It is not possible to use Windows Live Writer, because it is causing an error when logging in.

you can add the following to the web.config after the system.web closing tag:

<

location path="blogger.aspx">

<

system.web>

<

authorization>

<

allow users="*"/>

</

authorization>

</

system.web>

</

location>

Not sure if wlw uses this api, but you can substitute the one you need for blogger.aspx

Tank you, Paul

I added the lines to web.config, and it is working fine.

For your information, I use Windows Live Writer Version 2008 (Build 12.0.1370.325) on Windows Vista.
